President Sergio Mattarella
told Italy's Rio Olympic and Paralympic medallists Wednesday
that "sport is always a fruitful investment, especially when the
development of excellence goes hand in hand with sporting
practice". He said these "should never be separated or
contrasted". Mattarella told the medallists that "you were our
flag in the Rio Games and you will continue to be so".
Mattarella spoke at a ceremony at which the medallists returned
to him the flags they bore in the Games.
