Wednesday's 6.0-magnitude quake
in the central Apennines caused small cracks to appear in the
Duomo of Urbino, one of the glories of that northern Marche
Renaissance town.
The cathedral, which has been cordoned off, was damaged by a
1997 tremor which caused some of the facade's statues to
collapse. It was repaired.
No damage was reported Wednesday to Palazzo Ducale, another
of the high points of the Renaissance in Urbino.
