The widow of a Nigerian asylum
seeker slain this week in the Marche coastal town of Fermo said
Friday she wants to become a doctor.
"I want to make my dream come true and become a doctor",
said Chineyery Namdi, 24, who is also from Nigeria.
She met local authorities on Friday, including the
president of Marche's regional council, Antonio Mastrovincenzo,
Fermo Prefect Mara Di Lullo and Mayor Paolo Calcinaro.
Emmanuel Chidi Namdi, 36, died Wednesday after being left
in an irreversible coma following a fight with a soccer ultra,
farmer and former boxer, Amedeo Mancini, 39.
The rightist ultra of local soccer club Fermana reportedly
sparked the fight by insulting Chinyery, calling her an "African
monkey".
The couple had been at the Fermo bishop's seminary since
September after fleeing Boko Haram violence in Nigeria.
They lost their parents and a daughter to the Islamist
terrorists in Nigeria and Chinyery lost an unborn child during
the sea crossing from Africa to Sicily.
