Police on Monday detained the
ex-boyfriend of 22-year-old student Sara Di Pietrantonio, whose
mother found her body near her car, both of them on fire, at
dawn yesterday in Rome's Magliana neighborhood.
The suspect was named as Vincenzo Paduano, 27.
The couple had separated two days prior, relatives said.
The victim had sent her mother a message at 03:00 on Sunday
after a night out with a girlfriend, saying she had driven a
friend home and was on her way back.
When she failed to turn up 20 minutes later, the mother
went out to search for her daughter.
She found her car in flames and, 500 meters away behind
some bushes, the partially charred body of her daughter, still
on fire.
Investigations are ongoing.
