The Indian supreme court has set
seven conditions for the return to Italy of marine Salvatore
Girone as per an April 29 ruling of the Hague arbitration
tribunal on the killing, allegedly with fellow marine
Massimilano Latorre, of two Indian fishermen in 2012, according
to Thursday's sentence published on the court's website.
These include: the presentation of guarantees by Girone and
by the Italian ambssador in New Delhi; the obligation to hand
over his passport to Italian authorities and sign in at a police
station every Wednesday; and a ban on contacting other people
involved in the case of the Enrica Lexie oil tanker.
These conditions, already set by the arbitration court,
have been supplemented by another four requests from New Delhi.
The Italian government will also be required to inform New
Delhi on Girone's situation by "verbal notice" every three
months. The first note is expected on September 1, the court
said.
