Rome prosecutors on Monday requested
19-year-old Milan supporter Kevin Pirola remain in custody on
attempted murder charges after he stabbed two people in a Rome
bar in the aftermath of the Juventus-Milan Italian Cup final.
Investigators say the young man was part of a group of
football ultras who got off from three coaches carrying Milan
supporters in Via Leone IV near the Vatican and attacked a
lounge bar with clubs and knives.
The two victims, aged 26 and 40, sustained serious but not
life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigations judge will rule after
questioning the suspect at some point between Tuesday and
Wednesday.
Witness statements by some of the bar customers led to
Pirola's arrest. Investigations continue into the others behind
the attack.
