The Italian ambassador to
Britain on Friday visited Cambridge University and thanked it
for the efforts it has made to try and get at the truth about
the Cairo torture and murder of Cambridge doctoral student
"Italy is grateful to the academic community of Cambridge
for its solidarity over the Regeni case," Pasquale Terracciano
said after arriving for a Dante reading at Trinity College.
The envoy reiterated the Italian government's
"determination" to "get to the bottom" of the case, a statement
said, noting that on Thursday Italy presented a proposal to the
Council of Europe's parliamentary assembly to urge Egypt, as a
signatory of the International Convention Against Torture, to
collaborate fully in the search for the truth.
