Italian Premier Matteo Renzi on
Wednesday said that many Italian businesses will play a "crucial
role" in Iran's economic recovery, in a post on his Facebook
page at the conclusion of a two-day visit to the nation, aimed
at reinforcing economic and political ties between the two
countries.
"Italy is in the front row for facing humanitarian crises,
from Syria to Yemen, together, and for restarting commercial and
university collaboration," Renzi said.
During a business forum in the Iranian capital on
Wednesday, Renzi said that in both Italy and the EU, "there's a
deep conviction that Iran's role, following the nuclear accord,
is geopolitically strategic for the region and beyond".
At that forum, the premier said that projects are being
undertaken not only in the infrastructure and energy sectors,
but also in the food and farming industry, for which he said
Italy has "world-leading businesses in pasta".
"Non-Italian pasta isn't pasta: they'll tell you that it's
pasta, but it isn't," he said.
