An Italian doctoral student was
killed during a robbery last night in Geneva, Le Matin paper
reported Tuesday.
Valentina Tarallo, 29, was reportedly attacked on her way
home by a man who crushed her skull with a crowbar during an
apparent purse-snatching.
The murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
Police are seeking a male of African descent aged 20-30 and
have asked any witnesses to the incident at 22 Avenue de la
Croisette in the Geneva University Hospitals district to come
forward.
Tarallo was studying for a doctorate in molecular
microbiology. She was from the town of La Loggia, near Turi
The victim's parents have been informed and have left Italy
to bring her body home.
