Police have arrested a man for
reducing two others into slavery, sources said Monday.
The charge carries a possible sentence of 20 years in
prison.
The suspect is a Romanian national who forced two of his
countrymen to work 10 hours a day at an illegal waste dump and
to live in a broken-down trailer after he seized their
passports.
One of the victims has been hospitalized, police said.
The suspect's wife and the owner of the land with the waste
dump are also under investigation.
The land has been seized and a cleanup is underway.
