Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan
met with top Italian bankers on Tuesday to discuss the country's
banking system with a particular focus on struggling cooperative
banks, financial sources said.
The meeting was attended by Bank of Italy governor Ignazio
Visco, Claudio Costamagna and Fabio Gallia of the Cassa Depositi
e Prestiti, Unicredit CEO Federico Ghizzoni, Intesa Sanpaolo CEO
Carlo Messina and banking foundation ACRI president Giuseppe
Guzzetti.
The participants also reportedly examined the state of the
art of the government's 2015 cooperative banking reform.
