People or companies that have
failed to comply with new rules on communicating income and
expenses subject to VAT will discover the "dark side" of
inspections, the director of Italy's inland revenue agency
Rossella Orlandi said Tuesday.
"Those who have not responded to a cooperative approach
will discover the dark side of inspections," Orlandi said.
"Only a very small part" of interested parties have
fulfilled their obligations concerning communication
transactions, she added.
The tax authority "will have to change its approach" to
those who do not cooperate, Orlandi said.
The fight against tax evasion generated 14.9 billion euros
in 2015, Orlandi said Tuesday. This was "the largest sum ever
restored to the state coffers" and represented the "umpteenth
record after the 14.2 billion (recovered) in 2014", Orlandi
said.
