Rome Carabinieri police on
Wednesday arrested four of their own on charges of selling drugs
seized as evidence.
The suspects are accused of racketeering with intent to
deal drugs.
A search of the suspected officers' homes turned up drug
cutting equipment.
The officers are accused of selling hashish, cocaine and
marijuana on at least 20 occasions between May and September
last year. The four netted up to 25,000 euros a deal,
investigators said.
Also arrested were five of their informants. A total of 14
people have been placed under investigation in connection with
the case, police said.
