Police on Monday arrested a
woman identified as M.G., accused of physical and psychological
abuse of children ages three to five in her care as director of
a preschool.
An investigation began last November following reports from
parents who said their children didn't want to go to school
because they were afraid of their teacher.
The probe included hidden video cameras and found the
52-year-old woman allegedly engaged in "systematic" abuse of her
charges, including physical abuse such as slapping and pushing,
as well as psychological abuse including insults and swearing.
One girl was allegedly forced to stay outside in the cold
during the winter as punishment, in the Modenese Apeninnes town
of Pavullo nel Frignano.
