A Romanian driver who killed
two pedestrians while driving drunk was arrested Monday on
aggravated manslaughter charges.
Victims Barbara Stepien Fiacchini, 50, a Polish national
who was married to an Italian, and their 10-year-old daughter
Letizia were walking on the outskirts of the Tuscan city of
Arezzo on Sunday afternoon when Alexe Danut, 40, plowed into
them in his minicar.
The child died on the scene, while the mother died later in
hospital.
His alcohol level was four times over the legal limit,
police said.
Fire fighters extracted him from the minicar and he was
taken to hospital, then to jail where he spent the night.
