A pig's head was found
outside a warehouse used as a place or worship by Muslims in the
town of Giugliano in Campania, near Naples, ANSA sources said
Wednesday.
The incident appears to be a reaction to this month's
terror attacks by Islamist extremists in Paris, even though many
Muslim representatives in Italy condemned the massacre and led
protests to say they were not done in their name.
'F**k Isis' was written next to the pig's head.
Local police recently monitored Islamic places of worship
in the area and had talks with the people who run them to
discuss preventing extremism and protecting the Muslims who use
these sites.
The local imam, Noureddine Guediri, condemned the incident
but said he was "sure it was a prank".
Guediri said he had never had problems with intolerance.
"I've been here for 20 years and I'm Italian, like my
wife, and we've never had any problems," he said.
