Torrential rains and hail snarled
traffic Wednesday in Rome.
Traffic police were called out some 40 times to deal with
flooded roads and shops in the Casilina, San Giovanni, San
Lorenzo, Piazza Bologna and Trionfale areas.
Firemen were called to intervene roughly 50 times.
Commuters tormented by ankle-high water, sagging roads and
sink holes were further aggravated by a metro and train strike.
