Former senior police officer and
Rome city official Luca Odevaine admitted Friday he took bribes
regularly from a leader of an alleged mafia gang pillaging the
capital, Salvatore Buzzi, to work as a 'facilitator' for the
crime clan, police sources said.
Odeavine, former head of the Rome provincial police force
and ex deputy head of former mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni's
cabinet, made the confession during four hours of testimony to
prosecutors following his arrest, explaining that he was given
5,000 euros a month by Buzzi "due to his role as fixer and
troubleshooter" for the crime gang, the sources said.
