The body of a baby recovered in St Tropez may be that of Semyon, a 10-month-old Russian child who was drowned by his mother last week during a family holiday in Italy, ANSA sources said. The mother, Natalia Sotnikova, has been arrested on homicide charges. The woman has reportedly admitted to deliberately killing the baby at Bussana, near the Ligurian city of Imperia. The corpse found in St Tropez was wearing an outfit like that Semyon had on when he died, the sources said.
French police said in a statement that the body was "a boy of one year of age" that his body had been carried there by the sea. It was found by a woman walking on the beach.
