Two people were killed
Monday when their ultralight aircraft crashed and caught fire on
the island of Elba near the La Pila airport.
Firefighters at the scene said the crash occurred shortly
after the aircraft, registered with an Austrian flight school,
took off.
Investigators say the two people on the craft were believed
to be Austrian and engine failure may have been responsible.
Elba is part of the Tuscan province of Livorno.
