Italian police on Wednesday arrested four well-known Italian body builders in a sweep that seized thousands of anabolic steroids and other muscle-pumping drugs across the country.
Some 200 police officers carried out 34 raids and confiscated 4,000 pills as well as other forms of drugs in the operation, dubbed Big Bull.
The raids took place in the provinces of Perugia, Rome, Florence, Ancona, Genoa, Milan, Bologna, Latina, Livorno, Parma, Pescara and Viterbo.
The four body builders, who were not named, were reportedly looked up to as "maestros", police said. They are accused of trafficking in steroids and other illegal substances.
