(ANSA) Brancaleone, August 21 - A dolphin whose tail was
surgically reconstructed after being injured has died despite
extensive efforts to save its life, marine biologists said
Thursday.
"Summer," as the dolphin was named, had been treated by
biologists Stefania Giglio and Elena Madeo from a marine study
centre in Calabria as well as by the veterinary service of the
town of Locri and the Marine Recovery Centre at Brancaleone as
well as an Environment Ministry team.
Giglio and Madeo said the dolphin died from weakness
following its injuries as well as due to an infestation of
parasites.
