(ANSA) Milan, April 17 - As many as 7,430 workers are battling to ensure the Milan Expo 2015 universal exposition pavilions are all ready for the opening May 1, Commissioner Giuseppe Sala said Friday.
"I am ready to bet" that all the pavilions will be ready at the extravaganza, Sala told a news conference, "and I am convinced that I will win the wager." "Seeing the progress, every day I am more relieved".
"Yesterday we reached a record," Sala added, "7,430 people at work on the building sites" at the Expo area.
Sala nevertheless jested: "Am I worried? I am worried about everything".
Earlier this week Sala said everything would be "nearly ready" when the world's fair opens on May 1.
