(ANSA) - Milan, February 25 - UK Ambassador to Italy
Christopher Prentice met Milan mayor Giuliano Pisapia Wednesday,
outlining Britain's plans for the Expo 2015 universal exposition
including events promoted by Birmingham, the doughty Midlands
city twinned with Italy's business capital.
During the meeting at the Palazzo Marino the ambassador
presented the new British Consul General in Milan, Tim Flear,
officials said.
He discussed Expo with the mayor, briefing the first citizen
on the rich programme of cultural, scientific and business
events that will be held at the UK pavilion and in other parts
of Milan as part of the 'Expo in the City' theme.
A constellation of UK cities in addition to London are
staging Expo events, including Birmingham, particularly
appropriate since it has long been twinned with Milan.
Also discussed by the mayor and the UK envoy was
collaboration between Milan and London for preparing the
visionary 'Urban Food Policy Pact' between mayors around the
world for sustainable urban food policies that will be signed in
October at the exposition.
