It has become almost impossible to
manage bank crises with the tools to hand, Bank of Italy
Governor Ignazio Visco said Monday.
He also said there have been bank crises in Italy "but the
system has held up".
Visco said the reform of cooperative banks and local
'popolari' savings banks had been necessary.
He also said the Bank of Italy's gold reserves were not for
monetary financing.
