Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio
said Wednesday that "many" offers for Alitalia had been received
and the case of the ailing former flag carrier "will be closed
today".
One of the key offers is from national State railway operator
Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), he said.
"I don't want to save Alitalia, I want to relaunch it," he
said.
"No one has shied away, the participation of industrial
partners will be fundamental.
"In the next few days we will be able to see all the offers
that have arrived, but I'm very tranquil because we have already
received many offers.
"It will be closed today, we'll respect the timescale.
"FS is one of the subjects that have presented offers, now
we'll open the envelopes and see what offers have arrived.
"We will build the industrial plan".
Lufthansa said earlier this week it would be interested in
Alitalia but only if the Italian State is not a shareholder.
Di Maio has said the State would take a stake alogn with FS
to make Alitalia a flag carrier again.
