Outgoing Alitalia President Luca
Cordero di Montezemolo told ANSA Friday that the former national
flag carrier should have "a two-billion-euro capital hike from
all partners, and strong discontinuity among managers compared
to the recent past, with the arrival of a strong Italian manager
at the helm, as well as new routes and new planes". He said
these were the commitments of the Italian and Abu Dhabi
shareholders in Alitalia. Alitalia staff are currently voting in
a referendum whether to accept a business plan reducing job cuts
by about a third and pay cuts by about 8% to save the
chronically loss-making airline.
