Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's
Mediaset media group posted its worst-ever loss in 2016, of
294.5 million euros, with earnings slightly up at 3.667 billion
euros, it said Wednesday. The loss is largely due to the
Premium-Vivendi affair which cost the group 341 million euros.
The previous worst result was a 287 million loss in 2012 because
of writedowns in the financial crisis, while in 2015 Mediaset
posted a profit of four million euros, in 2014 23 million and in
2013 nine million. Mediaset said it would see "a positive
result" in the first quarter of this year and the whole of 2017.
