Employers' group Confindustria,
and the big three unions CGIL, CISL and UIL on Thursday made a
"coherent set of proposals" on managing redundancies and
industrial crises, envisaging "some modifications to rules on
unemployment benefits" and trusting that "the government will
share and fully implement these proposals". They said that "in
the current productive and economic situation, we are convinced
(the proposals) will be useful to give adequate responses to
businesses and workers". The move marked the first time in many
years that the unions and Confindustria have proposed policies
together. Italian unemployment edged down 0.1% to 11.4% in July.
