Italy's antitrust authority on
Wednesday issued a total of 66 million euros in fines for
Italy's major pay-TV operators Sky and RTI/Mediaset Premium, as
well as the Lega Calcio soccer league and its advisor Infront,
for a June 2014 anti-competitive deal on Serie A soccer rights
from 2015 to 2018. The highest fine, over 51 million euros, was
for Mediaset Premium while the Lega was fined 1-9 million,
Infront Italy 9 million, and Sky 4 million. The deal has long
been accused of flouting competition regulations.
