loans (NPLs) is weighing on Italian banks but recent government
moves to alleviate the problem are "starting to work", Bank of
Italy Governor Ignazio Visco said Tuesday. He said the high rate
of NPLS "continues to represent the main factor of vulnerability
for Italian banks but the multiple measures to tackle the issue
are starting to yield fruit," he said.
