The Milan bourse rallied 3.45%
Wednesday as banking stocks recovered from Tuesday's slump due
to uncertainty surrounding a new bank support fund, Atlante.
Unicredit was 7.5% up, BPM up 7.2%, BPER and MPS up 7% while
Intesa Sanpaolo gained 6.5% and Banco Popolare reclaimed 6.4".
UBI was briefly suspended for excessive gains and then
posted a 7.4% rise.
On Tuesday the FTSE-MIB index shed 1.57% amid general
banking losses.
