Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)
CEO Sergio Marchionne told union representatives Wednesday the
company's economic targets are being revised upwards and full
employment at its Italian plants by 2018 "remains an objective".
This means all the workers who were laid off will get their
jobs back, union reps said after meeting with Marchionne.
"The overall picture is positive," FIM, UILM, FISMIC and
UGL unions said. "Recourse to unemployment benefits at Italian
plants fell from 40% to 12% between 2013 and 2015. There have
been 3,000 hires at the Melfi plant, 200 at the Termoli and
Verrone plants, and another 200 at the Mirafiori Experimental
Constructions plant".
The unions said Marchionne told them relaunching Alfa Romeo
on the American and European markets is essential to reaching
the full employment target.
