Italy has made progress in the
fight against corruption but it still suffers from negative
perceptions abroad, Bank of Italy Governor Ignazio Visco said on
Tuesday.
"These perception indicators affect economic choices,
particularly investments in our country," he said.
Visco added that the country has dropped in World Bank
indicators on corruption, which means that international
observers still hold negative views of Italy in this area.
The central bank is fighting corruption by gathering data,
working on prevention, and fostering training programmes, he
said.
