Telecom Italia CEO Marco Patuano
on Friday said he's open to a roundtable discussion with the
Italian Regulatory Authority and other licensed operators (OLO)
to find a solution to suits dogging the company over 'abuse of
dominant position' in the market.
"Our goal isn't separating the access network. We want to
sit down at the table with the Authority and the OLOs to define
simplified processes, easy access for all, better organization,
clear indicators of performance, and to give the OLOs, who are
our biggest clients, what they want from us," Patuano said, in a
conference call following the release Friday of the company's
financial results for the first half of 2015.
Lawsuits against Telecom from OLOs such as Vodafone,
Fastweb and Tiscali have recently increased, over what they see
as Telecom's abuse of its dominant position in the market.
"We prefer to defend ourselves in the marketplace and not
in the courts, but that being said, we're working to build a
better environment (with the OLOs)," he said.
