Italian supermarket chain
operator CONAD will open five stores in China early next year,
the Bologna-based consortium said Thursday.
The stores will open February 19, which is Chinese New
Year's Day, in the Western provinces of Shanghai, Jiangsu and
Zhejiang. They will carry 250 products including frozen foods
and wine, the company said.
Founded in 1962 as a cooperative system of entrepreneurs
dealing in large-scale distribution, CONAD (Consorzio Nazionale
Dettaglianti) is a retail store brand operating one of the
largest supermarket chains in Italy.
The company in 2014 posted turnover of 11.73 billion euros,
up by 173 million or 1.5% over the previous year.
