Italy's three big labor federation leaders spoke out Wednesday on Premier Matteo Renzi's proposal to advance workers part of their severance pay, or TFR.
"The TFR is taxed at a lower rate than wages and we don't want workers to pay more taxes," said CISL chief-designate Anna Maria Furlan. "This isn't the right way to stimulate consumption. We must keep cutting labor taxes," said UIL chief Luigi Angeletti.
"The TFR advance would not be a bonus or a raise, but money that belongs to the workers," said CGIL leader Susanna Camusso.
