A co-defendant of Ilaria Salis, the
Italian anti-fascist on trial in Budapest for allegedly
attacking two neo-Nazis last year, was freed in Milan Thursday
after an appeals court rejected Hungary's request to hand over
the 23-year-old, who had been arrested in the Lombard capital on
the basis of a European arrest warrant and had been under hosue
arrest since November.
Gabriele Marchesi will not be transferred to prison in Hungary,
he court ruled, where Salis is being held in conditions she
claims are "inhuman."
