Minister of Labour and Social
Policies, Marina Calderone, on Saturday announced some 900
million euros in aid for some 400,000 flood-hit workers in the
areas of Emilia-Romagna ravaged by last week's deadly and
devastating flooding and landslides.
There are about 400,000 workers who live and work in the areas
affected by the floods in Emilia-Romagna and will benefit from
social 'shock absorbers' for 900 million euros, said Calderone
and the Regional Councillor for Economic Development, Vincenzo
Colla, during a meeting in the Emilia-Romagna Regional
Government offices.
From an initial estimate, Minister Calderone explained, the
measures concern about "100,000 self-employed workers". "If we
look at all the sectors, another 300,000 are potentially
affected employees," added Councillor Colla.
