Antonio Patuelli, the president of
Italian banking association ABI; told an ANSA Forum on Wednesday
that the current energy crisis required a major revamp of
government policy.
He said geopolitical factors and the recovery of economic
activity after the COVID-19 emergency put Italy before "an
energy crisis the likes of which we have not had so bad since
1973.
"It is necessary to rethink the policies on productive factors,
one by one," he continued.
"Things won't hold up as they are and there is the risk of a new
recession in a period in which there should be development".
