Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi met Foreign
Minister Luigi Di Maio Monday amid talk of her running to stay
on as the Italian capital's first citizen in next year's
election.
Di Maio is the former leader of Raggi's anti-establishment
5-Star Movement (M5S), which is led by MP Vito Crimi.
The idea of Raggi staying on as Rome mayor has sparked a
major debate in the Italian capital and beyond.
Raggi, a 41-year-old lawyer, became Rome's first woman mayor
in 2016.
Her tenure has been dogged by several scandals as well as
woes with public transport, trash and potholes, among other
things.
