One of the remaining pillars of
the Morandi Bridge that collapsed killing 43 people on August 14
is to be demolished using dynamite, sources said Wednesday.
Sources said several "micro-charges" of dynamite would be
used on Pillar 8 of the bridge, which is being demolished to
make way for a new viaduct.
Transport Minister Danilo Toninelli said earlier this month
the construction of the new viaduct that will replace the
Morandi Bridge will be "the image of the revival of the
country".
