Interior Minister Matteo Salvini
on Wednesday hailed Premier Giuseppe Conte's intervention on the
Diciotti Coast Guard rescue ship whose 177 migrants Salvini is
accused of kidnapping in a standoff with the EU last August.
Conte earlier said the government assumed collective
responsibility for the case.
"I appreciated Premier Giuseppe Conte's words on the
assumption of responsibility on the part of the whole
government," Salvini said, stressing that he had not asked the
premier to do this.
"I didn't request it myself: besides, it is clear that in my
actions no crime can be seen".
