The environment ministry on
Friday sent its evaluation of the previous government's
environmental impact study on the TransAdriatic Pipeline (TAP)
to Premier Giuseppe Conte.
Environment Minister Sergio Costa said the evaluation
revealed "no unlawful aspects".
The TAP, which will transport Caspian natural gas to Europe,
had been opposed by the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S)
when it was in opposition.
M5S is now one of the two ruling parties along with the
anti-migrant Euroskeptic League, and some M5S members of the
government have recently signalled they will allow the
much-anticipated project to go ahead after all.
