Italy should raise the
compulsory school-leaving age from 16 to 18 if it wants to
compete properly in the global knowledge economy, Education
Minister Valeria Fedeli told the annual meeting of the
influential Catholic lay group Communion and LIberation (CL)
Tuesday. She called for an "overall" reorganisation of the
school system "from the quality standpoint".
