The council of the
north-eastern city of Trieste decided overnight to make it
obligatory for children to have been vaccinated for several
illnesses in order to enroll at city nursery schools. The
obligation will kick in for the 2017-18 school year. The move
makes Trieste the first Italian city to make vaccinations for
diphtheria, tetanus, polio, and hepatitis B obligatory for all
children attending public pre-schools.
