Molisani a Roma, De Niro Governatore Molise per un giorno
Invito dopo intervista tv
CAMPOBASSO
A native of Italy's southern
Molise region on Friday launched a campaign called Robert De
Niro, Molise Governor For a Day.
The invitation came from Gabriele Di Nucci, secretary of
the Association of Molisans in Rome, in response to the
Hollywood star's statement yesterday on the Jimmy Kimmel Live
show that he might emigrate to Molise in the wake of Donald
Trump's election to the U.S. presidency.
De Niro's great-grandparents, Giovanni Di Niro and Angelina
Mercurio, emigrated to the United States from the medieval
hilltop village of Ferrazzano in 1887.
"We will invite De Niro to be our governor for a day via a
committee set up for the purpose," Di Nucci said.
"Media-wise, that day would be worth more than the 53 years
the Molise region has been in existence," he added.
