The anti-establishment 5-Star
Movement (M5S) has some big challenges ahead after the
"disastrous" beginning to M5S member Virginia Raggi's term as
mayor of the capital, the latest issue of the Economist noted.
The British weekly discussed the seven years since the
anti-establishment movement was formed and how the "populist"
group became the largest opposition force in Italy, but stressed
that it is now that it will be put to the test.
The Economist noted that ever more internal conflicts are
arising and that the biggest problem is the inexperience of
those elected to public office.
In referring to Rome, the weekly said that if the movement
proves unable to govern a city, then voters will conclude that
it should not be given the task of governing a country.
