Trani prosecutors will
formally request Germany's permission to seek documents from
Deutsche Bank headquarters in Frankfurt, sources said Friday.
The Puglia city's prosecutor's office is investigating the
German bank and five of its former executives for market
manipulation in the massive over-the-counter sale of seven out
of eight billion euros' worth of Italian bonds in the bank's
portfolio in a very short span of time in the first quarter of
2011.
The bank and its ex-president Josef Ackermann, former
co-CEOs Anshuman Jain and Jurgen Fitschen, former chief risk
officer Hugo Banziger, and ex-board member and CFO Stefan Krause
are accused of dumping the Italian bonds in spite of publicly
giving Italy's sovereign debt a positive rating.
Trani prosecutors says they are lodging the request after
Deutsche Bank dragged its feet on providing the documentation,
in spite of assurances it would do so spontaneously.
