Italy's anti-corruption authority
ANAC on Tuesday asked tax police to seize documents on tenders
for the renovation of a school in Amatrice that collapsed in the
August 24 earthquake, ANSA sources said. ANAC instructed the
police to check how the contracts were awarded, sources said.
The probe will be led by the tax police anti-corruption unit led
by General Gaetano Scazzeri, sources aid. Italian authorities
suspect contracts for renovating and securing many buildings
flattened in the quake, according to anti-quake norms, may not
have been respected.
